Friday, November 6th

Splits & Strength 6:30pm-8:30pm CST

This weekend is about shifting the focus away from chasing shapes and toward building movement that actually supports them. Splits isn’t achieved by pushing the legs wider or collapsing into the floor, but by developing true leg control, hip strength, and freedom from compensation patterns. We’ll work both upper and lower body, integrating arm balances and transitions so the result isn’t just flexibility, but strength, control, and usable range of motion.

Saturday, November 7th

Inversions & Core 12:30pm-2:30pm CST

Going upside down isn’t a test of strength — it’s a test of organization. In this workshop we use seated, supine, and upside-down drills, both solo and with partners, to refine the mechanics that make inversions efficient and repeatable. Whether you’re new or experienced, we’ll go deep into balance, control, and skill so your inversions feel lighter, playful, and sustainable — not something you survive, but something you understand.

Hip mobilization for all 3:00pm-5:00pm CST

This is not a “hip opener” class — it’s a hip mobilization one. Instead of forcing range, we focus on building usable movement in the joint itself. We’ll explore both external and internal rotation, along with flexion, extension, and ab/adduction, to create a more balanced understanding of how hips actually work and which poses best support your body. Expect banded work, joint glides, oscillations, and other precise tools designed to build freedom, control, and resilience.

Sunday, November 8th

Handstands & Shoulders 12:00pm-2:00pm CST

Handstands aren’t just about kicking up — they’re about building a very specific set of skills that allow the posture to organize itself. While we’ll touch on inversions elsewhere, this workshop is fully dedicated to understanding handstands from the ground up. Through a wide range of targeted drills, we’ll explore the elements that make them stable and efficient, with special attention to the shoulders — the structures that truly run the show and shape what happens at every moment. This isn’t about exhausting your shoulders, but about learning to use what you already have and preparing the ground for stronger, more sustainable progress.

Segmenting Backbends 2:30pm-4:30pm CST

Big backbends don’t come from pushing harder — they come from a spine that knows how to move. In this workshop we step away from chasing dramatic Wheels or feet-to-head poses and instead focus on building true spinal articulation, movement independence, and the ability to read your body’s signals with precision. Expect highly specific drills that may look simple, but unlock depth, safety, and longevity far more effectively than most advanced asanas ever could.

FAQs

Where is Elgin?

It is about 20 miles east of Austin. If you are coming from out of state, you will fly into Austin Bergstrom International Airport.

For out of town guests, there are many places to stay in Elgin—hotels and Airbnbs are available nearby. If you decide to stay in Austin, we highly recommend getting a rental car as ride shares to and from Austin can be challenging to find.

If you are coming from outside of Elgin, please check out our FAQ page for visiting guests.

Where is the studio?

Our studio is located at 28 N. Main Street, Elgin, TX 78621.

Do I have to be a teacher or advanced yogi to participate?

Absolutely not! Carmen teaches her classes to suit all levels, whether you are new to yoga or can touch your feet to your head upside down.

What should I bring?

For yoga classes, bring socks and/or a towel you can slide around with. If you have a block and strap, bring them. If you don’t, no problem, we have loaners at the studio (but these classes are much, much bigger than normal, so BYO is appreciated!). Other than that, bring your mat and an open mind! (We do have loaner mats for those traveling without one.)

Where should I park? What eating options are around? What time can I arrive?

If you’re joining us for the first time from out of town (that includes Austin!), please check out our Visitor FAQs.

Can I sign up now and pay later?

Due to the popularity and demand for these workshops, we are not able to accept unpaid sign ups. You must be paid in order to reserve your spot.

I have a membership at Body + Shine, are these classes included?

No, these classes are not included in your membership.

The workshop I want to attend is already sold out!!! HELP!!!

Yikes! We have a limited wait list available that you can add yourself to in case someone cancels or is looking to sell their tickets. Please email us and we will contact you if anything becomes available.

What if I need to cancel?

We will be very sad if you can’t make it! Cancellations on/before August 31st will receive a full refund, minus 3% merchant services fee. Cancellations in September will receive a 50% refund. Cancellations on/after October 1st are considered a no show and will not be refunded. If you need to cancel, you will need to contact the studio/Katy via phone, text, or email, Carmen and Moises cannot process cancellations.

ABOUT CYOGA & CARMEN

What is cYoga

cYoga is the dynamic yoga style created by Carmen Aguilar. While the classes are rooted in the essence and the form of yoga, the delivery is adjusted to our world. cYoga helps students get better by accomplishing poses they could not do before, relieving pains and aches in their bodies, improving their breathing and concentration. cYoga also aims at keeping students engaged throughout the class so they can make a habit out of practicing yoga.

The Basic Elements

  • cYoga classes are always different. No two classes are the same. Sequences are adapted to the theme and capabilities of the students.

  • cYoga classes are always challenging. Regardless of the level, challenging cYoga classes keep the students engaged and focused thoughout the class.

  • cYoga classes are always energizing. cYoga classes always aim to accomplish a peak pose difficult for the students so they leave with a sense of accomplishment.

  • cYoga classes are always transformational. cYoga classes challenge your believes of what is possible, what you can do and what you cannot.

ABOUT CARMEN

Carmen Aguilar had completed an Engineering degree and then a Masters degree, spoke 4 languages and was deciding in what direction to launch her career when she found yoga. A seemingly crazy choice at the time, she dropped everything and devoted all her energies to the study of this discipline. The deeper she got into it the more it fascinated her. During the first years she studied with every teacher she could find, completed 5 different Teacher Trainings while she started to develop her own style and her daily practice. Devoting to it 3 hours a day, 7 days a week, she has been able to reach levels few practitioners share. She has been teaching yoga for more than 20 years, and during that time she’s developed a unique teaching style, cYoga, intended to make her students achieve their best both physically and mentally. In her own words: “cYoga came from a craving for an intense practice: I wanted to try things my body couldn’t follow but pretty soon I realized how much sequencing and warming up affected the outcome. An intense asana practice is not only cleansing and rejuvenating, but it can also change the way we’re wired. Our body is the most tangible vehicle to access our very own essence and stepping on our mat is an amazing and precious experience!” In 2018, she sold her yoga studio in Chicago, The Lab, and moved to Hawaii, where she lives with her husband Moises. Pre-pandemic, Carmen traveled across the world teaching yoga, and now she primarily teaches weekly classes live streaming online in addition to her large on-demand video library.
